We’d like to take a moment to thank everyone who has contributed to the setup of the GLO Network. The countless hours spent in discussions, identifying what truly matters to Australian women, and exploring how the network can best support them by tapping into the wealth of fantastic global organisations, have been invaluable.
Since its conception two years ago by a group of women simply wanting to be there for each other, GLO has evolved into a springboard of activity and offerings, culminating in the creation of the network you see today. Both Nicole and I are thrilled to warmly welcome the creation of our board and its members, and we are incredibly excited for the future of GLO and the impact it will have.
Our vision is simple but powerful: we aim to be a safe and trusted place where Australians can turn to for support as they navigate and thrive through a new stage of life. Whether it's health, career, relationships, or something else, we hope GLO will provide the right information, connections, and support.
Navigating Our First Year
Over the past year, we enlisted the invaluable help of Maxwell Fletcher, whose support was instrumental in enabling GLO’s initiation. Our website, beautifully developed with the help of Michelle Macfarlane and Pearl Boswel, and our social media pages—painfully created by Nicole and myself—are now live, showcasing our vision to the world.
Our first working group gave us incredible feedback, leading to our very first paid awareness event. This event challenged women to try something new and gave them access to lived experience talks and local businesses that support women. Perhaps the most impactful decision so far has been the launch of our movement, "Be Your Own Project," which will run alongside the creation and sale of a well-being diary designed to help women regain control while navigating the challenges of aging.
Collaboration has been key to GLO’s success, and we’ve been actively spreading the word about our offerings. The response has been overwhelming, with a common sentiment from our followers: "This is so needed."
Working Together for the Better
Our Members
Governance requires a board, and we are deeply grateful for Maxwell Fletcher’s support as a Director during our early days as a not-for-profit. As we move into our second year of operation, we bid farewell to Maxwell, who will be stepping down as per our constitution, to make way for a new director. We are beyond excited to welcome Candice to the team—her wealth of knowledge, experience, and vibrant personality will undoubtedly help guide GLO into its next chapter.
Our Donations
With the establishment of our website and social pages, we now have the infrastructure in place to take payments for future events. Over the next 12 months, this will help GLO build evidence of cash flow, making it easier for us to apply for grants and funding in the future.
Our Community
At GLO, we are here to support our community, not just females and transgender individuals facing the challenges of aging, but to also educate everyone that aging, when approached with the right mindset, is empowering and beneficial. Our focus remains on getting GLO’s name and offerings into as many established groups as possible, working year-on-year to achieve our company goals.
Thank you all for being part of this journey with us—together, we are creating something truly special.
