Embracing the Next Chapter: The Power of Women’s Networks in Aging

I’m just a regular woman, like so many of you, who’s been through life’s ups and downs. I’m not here to pretend I have it all figured out—I don’t. If I could go back and change a few things (okay, a lot of things), I would. But here I am, alive and kicking, and one thing I know for sure: aging isn’t about giving up; it’s about starting fresh.

Yes, aging brings new challenges—just when we thought we’d had our fill—but it also brings an opportunity to lean on our mental strength and inner ferocity. The truth is, we can’t do it alone. I’ve tried, and let’s just say, it didn’t work out too well. Like many, I’ve felt the sting of losing touch with friends, the disconnection from family, and the erosion of networks built during years of raising kids and working. I was lost, too.

Then, something changed. I found my oasis, a group of women who, like me, were determined to remain relevant, to understand what was happening to our bodies, minds, and places in society. These women became my lifeline. Our conversations gave me hope, peace, and, most importantly, laughter. And so, the Glo Network was born—named aptly as I was glowing red hot at the time. Aging is a battle, but it’s one we don’t have to face alone. Let’s do it together, one laugh at a time.

Why Is the Network So Important?

Ask yourself, how many great podcasts, social media posts, and articles have you seen about aging? We’re bombarded with information. If you’re like me, you’re intrigued but also a little terrified to dive in too deep. I don’t want to dwell on my body falling apart, and there’s just too much to sift through. Plus, who has the time? Then comes the guilt of not being an “aging expert.”

We need a source of support and information that’s been tested and discussed in person, with real, unfiltered conversations. What did you really do to feel human again? Did you actually exercise that much? What products did you use? How did your partner support you? Why does your doctor seem to get it when mine doesn’t?

The truth is, we need to be armed with the right information without having to scour the internet or spend a fortune. There’s no miracle cure, but there is a way to feel happy and at peace with ourselves. That’s why I’m ready to put in the effort to remain relevant—to myself, my family, and society—without losing my mind in the process.

But I can’t do it alone. The network needs all of us—your stories, your advice, your mistakes, your emotions, and a healthy dose of humour to keep it real.

Look at Meeeee, Look at Meeee

Actually, I’d rather you didn’t. I’m not one for the spotlight, but I need to share this moment—the moment I knew I had to fight back against aging. Let’s call it round one, because there are many rounds in this fight.

A cheating husband, the struggle to keep up with work, kids growing up and needing me less, and the relentless feeling of not being enough all led to a moment of reckoning. One morning, I looked in the mirror and didn’t recognize the woman staring back at me. Where was the woman I’d worked so hard to become? She was gone, replaced by someone tired, angry, and lost.

So, I did what I thought I should do: went on a diet, had some procedures, read books, used expensive creams. When nothing worked, I went to the doctor, and she told me to accept getting older. That was my red flag moment. I was determined to feel better, and they could kiss my ass. I researched, spent a fortune, and kept telling myself it would pay off. But it didn’t—until…

I met women who were thriving—not in all parts of their lives, but in some. Their stories resonated with me. They energised me. Their advice was real, filled with benefits, pitfalls, and laughs. I was ready because I trusted them. They were living it like I was. I became my own project, with a unique support crew of real specialists. It changed everything.

Now, I’m calm, at peace with myself, and I look and feel better. I’m not angry or scared anymore, and because of that, I was open to meeting an amazing man, Mr. Ben, who has been the catalyst for living life to the fullest. I see my future differently now, and I’m energized to take on the corporate world, with a mission to get menopause policies rolled out in every business in Australia, to educate on hormonal impacts, and to champion the power of honest friendships. With my business partner Nicole by my side, we won’t give up.

If any of this resonates with you, join the network, share your story, and come along to our events. You are not alone—you have GLO.
